Just like humans, animals can experience fear, stress, and anxiety. While a certain level of short-term stress is natural and beneficial for developing resilience, chronic or overwhelming stress is detrimental to your pet’s overall well-being and quality of life.  

Pet calming supplements are products designed to help reduce anxiety, stress, and hyperactivity in pets, especially cats and dogs. They can typically be purchased without a prescription, and contain natural ingredients known for their calming properties, such as probiotics, plants and herbs, milk proteins, etc.

These supplements are commonly used for stressful situations like thunderstorms or fireworks, separation anxiety, travel, vet or grooming visits, and acclimatisation to new environments.

Your dogs/cats may benefit from a calming supplement if they show signs of anxiety, stress, or hyperactivity in certain situations.

Here are some common signs to look out for:

• Hypervigilance and stiff body language: Pets that are always on alert, restless, pacing, or otherwise unable to “switch off” and rest, even after sufficient physical and mental stimulation.
• Panting and excessive drooling: Increased heart rate, panting, and drooling, especially when the environment isn’t overly warm. 
• Destructive behaviour: Excessive chewing, digging, and other destructive behaviours such as chewing drywall or gnawing on their own paws/tail.
• Vocalisations: Excessive barking or whining, potentially in response to triggers.
• Uncontrollable shivers: Involuntary shaking of the body, especially when the environment is not overly cold.

If your pet’s stressors are easily identifiable and predictable (e.g. they get stressed during a vet visit or when strangers enter the house), they might benefit from fast-acting anxiety relief supplements, administered before the stressful event occurs. In the case of Lunoji Pure Calm, you may opt to dose your pet two hours before a planned stressful event.

Lunoji Pure Calm is a calming supplement formulated to act gently on your dogs’ and cats’ body without heavy sedation. Every pet is different, but generally, you should be able to notice a calmer pet during stressful events, like less shaking or shivering. S/he may have a greater tolerance for stressful activities, and/or recover faster after the event. However, do not expect your pet to become completely nonchalant or immune to usual stressors.

Effects on individual pets may vary. While some pets may experience benefits as quickly as 1-2 days, full effects may take up to 6 weeks in others.

Do note that Pure Calm supplement is made to support overall relaxation, and is not a replacement for training or a panacea to overall reactivity and/or behavioural issues. No. At the recommended doses, your dog will not experience sedation or drowsiness.

Unless your pet is severely intolerant or allergic to any of the listed ingredients, there should be no notable side effects. If your pet presents with diarrhoea or vomiting (without other reason, e.g. introduction of new treats/food/stressors), or if you are otherwise concerned about introducing a new supplement, please consult your vet.

Pure Calm can be used both situationally as-needed, and daily for long-term relief.

If you have a pet that is generally fearful and stressed, we recommend sprinkling Lunoji Pure Calm calming supplement daily over their breakfast. For increased efficacy, you can consider giving an additional dose ~2 hours before planned stressful events (like vet or groomer visits).

If your pet is generally well-adjusted and only struggles with specific events, you can give Pure Calm situationally, ideally ~2 hours before the stressful event. For increased efficacy, you can also consider giving twice the dosage before the event.
